That's Life - May 27, 2020

Here we are in Phase One of the re-entry to some form of the new-normal created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

More doors are open now in our business sector but some remain closed. Many businesses are limiting the number of customers allowed at one time. That’s just the way it is in May of 2020.

This simply is not a case of everybody is either open or closed. This is a decision that each business person has had to make on their own.

Many businesses and services have no choice but to remain closed. Who ever thought you wouldn’t be able to take a dip in the local swimming pool, indoor or outdoor, in the month of May? Our brains have never had to deal with this.

Who ever thought you would be refused the use of a washroom almost everywhere you go? Let me tell you this, if you’re going to the city you’d best plan ahead. It was almost impossible last month.

We are entering a summer season that is void of special events. Authorities don’t want us to travel. We’re urged to stay at home in Alberta.

Our television media friends have the task of creating 30 minute newscasts, four times a day, that are repeated two, three and even four times over each time slot. They provide the updates, the good-news stories, the bad-news stories and whatever this COVID-19 pandemic offers them on a daily basis.

Now that we are into stage one of re-entry we are already in the starting gates for phase two and then here comes phase three.

In all honesty I think there are a lot of folks out there that think we’ll be back to normal by Canada Day. I think not!

At least 5,541,590 cases of Corona virus have been registered in 196 countries and territories. At least 347,723 people have died from COVID-19 since the outbreak in China last December.

The United States of America is the worst-hit country with 98,584 deaths from 1,671,728 cases. About 58,209 U.S. soldiers died as a result of the Vietnam War that stretched from 1955 to 1975. So far COVID-19 has stretched over a mere five months and claimed over 40,000 more American lives, It amazes me how some folks refuse to take this enemy seriously.

Do the best you can. Play by the rules.
