The Village of Carbon Library is hosting a fundraiser on Saturday, October 7. This will be a Block Party in front of Carbon Grocery featuring hot dogs, chili, refreshments and entertainment and it’s all happening from 1-4 pm. All funds from this event will go toward the purchase of a Roller Shutter Security System for Carbon Grocery. To elect or to acclaim? That is the question. And that question will be answered following Nomination Day on Monday, September 18, 2017.

Nomination papers must be filed, for the October 16 Municipal General Election, between the hours of 10 am and noon. Candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by noon on Tuesday, September 19.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t remember a summer as hot and smoky as this one. But wait, summer is not over. Fall kicks in on September 22 and the splash parks in Three Hills and Trochu remain open while the summer heat continues.

Wildfires have plagued British Columbia this summer with dry conditions being a factor. It’s unfortunate that so many of these fires have been caused by humans.

We still have just over three weeks of summer left so get out there and soak it up. And speaking of soak, the Labour Day weekend usually marks the closure of our area outdoor pools. Acme closed last Saturday while Carbon and Trochu will wrap things up on Monday, September 4. I am told that the splash parks in Three Hills and Trochu will remain open while weather permits.
