Seniors Outreach News May 29, 2013

The life of our Province and that of our communities are built on the hard work and collective experience and perseverance of our seniors. The tapestry of history is woven together with the richness of their stories and experiences growing up in a very different world than we live in today. The past shapes and informs our present and future reality.
We encourage all our Kneehill County community members to help Seniors Outreach celebrate the lives of our incredible seniors during the Provincially recognized Seniors Week June 3-7.  You would be surprised and amazed at how many of our local seniors are 85 to 100+ and still actively involved in their communities and helping others. This is a real testimony to their faithfulness and commitment. We have so much to learn from them.
Come out and support and celebrate our seniors at the Seniors Outreach Volunteer Appreciation Supper on Thursday, June 6th.  This Alberta beef supper will be held at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church at 5:00 p.m. The cost of tickets is only $10 until June 1st so don't delay. If you have a business or can't come yourself, consider sponsoring a table at $150 so that the seniors benefit. We welcome your attendance, your financial support, and your participation in recognizing our seniors who contribute so much to our society, our churches, and our lives. Seniors Outreach was started with the mandate to provide opportunities for seniors to help seniors. Our seniors have taken this mandate seriously and continue to give 14,000-plus hours a year to serving an any way and every way they can - from driving, visiting, mentoring, greeting, all the way to knitting for charities and baking for the Food Bank.
Churches are encouraged to celebrate their seniors on Super Senior Sunday, June 2. Find your own unique way to recognize and honour your seniors.
