Seniors Outreach News January 15, 2014

Happy New Year from the Seniors Outreach Board and staff! We look forward to serving you this coming year and to having you volunteer with us to make our community and County a better place to live.
New Year's is always a time for making New Year's resolutions and setting goals. Like most people, do you make them and then almost immediately break them? A good example is: this year I'm going to exercise more! But then it's too cold outside or my book is calling me so maybe later. We all seem to struggle with promises to ourselves that we don't keep.
This year, make volunteering one of your New Year's goals as a way to give back or pay forward. You have something unique to offer and you can make a real difference in the lives of others. Do you enjoy meeting new people, reading, playing games, driving, baking, making coffee, answering phones, or snow shoveling; if you do, we have opportunities for you.  This year, you can know the satisfaction and pleasure that serving others brings. It will be a New Year's resolution that you won't want to break.

For our classical music lovers, the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra (CPO) has opened up two more rehearsals to enjoy. On January 23rd, the CPO has added Beethoven's World. On February 14th, the CPO will be playing Rachmaninoff and Ravel.  On March 7th is the Hungarian Rhapsody and March 28th is Beethoven's Triple Concerto.  Wonderful opportunities to hear a phenomenal orchestra at work.
