Seniros Outreach Summer Student

We have been very fortunate this summer to have Mackenzie Andrews, a Three Hills local, as our Canada Summer Job Grant student the past few months. Last Thursday was her last day at Seniors Outreach, as she prepares to head back to Red Deer to continue in her 2nd year of nursing studies at RDC.

Our staff, volunteers and clients have thoroughly enjoyed our time with Mackenzie. There was no hesitation for myself in hiring her, I knew she had the personality and qualities that would be a wonderful fit for our program. As sad as I am to see her go, I am encouraged in the fact that Mackenzie will become an amazing nurse and many of us have already requested to be on her nursing client list when the need arises! All the best to you Mackenzie and we look forward to you stopping back to visit us and maybe spending some time with us during your school breaks.

This past Saturday my husband Ken and I hosted a BBQ for Seniors Outreach staff, board members and many of our incredible volunteers. Around 60 folks enjoyed the yummy food, great conversation and fellowship. We can’t thank our volunteers enough for the time and energy that they bring to our program but we hope they felt the love and appreciation on Saturday night!

As I looked at the wonderful group of people gathered at our acreage, it reminded me of the diversity of folks that make up our incredible volunteer base. We all have our own talents, skills, ages, personalities, religions, communities, backgrounds and beliefs, but the common thread that brings us together is the goal to enhance the lives of seniors in Kneehill County. I am so proud to be part of this wonderful program and the countless number of volunteer hours that exist to keep Seniors Outreach flourishing and serving our senior population.

If you are interested, have questions or would like to volunteer with our program, please give me a call or make an appointment for us to meet. This is not only a Three Hills based program but we do serve all of Kneehill County. We can always use more volunteers in all areas of our program but at this time we are in URGENT need of volunteer receptionists until we can secure more funding for administrative time. Our program operates with part time staff so any extra volunteer assistance helps us to offer more programs and services to our seniors. Our office number is 403-443-2555.
