GEM OF THE DAY: God’s Improvement

A little girl was sitting on her grandfather’s lap as he read her a bedtime story. From time to time she would take her eyes off the book and reach up to touch his wrinkled cheek. She was alternately stroking her own cheek, then his again. Finally, she spoke up, “Grandpa, did God make you?” “Yes, sweetheart,” he answered, “God made me a long time ago.” “Grandpa, did God make me too?” “Yes, indeed, honey,” he said, “God made you just a little while ago.” Feeling their respective faces again, she observed, “God’s getting better at it, isn’t he.”

Cute idea! Perhaps we may wonder about ourselves or others wonder about themselves in their relationship to us. It is always important to recognize that we are just as important now as when we ‘came’ along. We do not need to see ourselves as less than we are nor as more than we are. Through this COVID-19 pandemic, we are all important, require encouragement, and appropriate consideration.

Our choices to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic has enabled Seniors Outreach to move safely forward through initiating social distancing, the wearing of masks, using of hand sanitizer or washing our hands often with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds), encouraging the making of appointments, limited attendance and consistent cleaning. Further to this, we have continued to provide Caring Cars/Wheelchair bus for medical appointments, Meals On Wheels (both daily meals and Frozen meals (as well as low-income financial support for food/personal items) and the continual input through our Main Office in Three Hills.
