Seniors Outreach - August 19, 2020

Our ‘new normal’ is always interesting. Time constantly clicks along. If we think about it, we may have more time to focus on specific activities, developing more skills, close relationships, and planned excursions. Sounds like something we had all hoped for before and now have been enabled to do, whether we want to or not.

Could be a challenge, but could be a wonderful thing if we recognize it as such. It may be like the DOCTOR’S ORDERS:

An old man goes to the doctor and tells him that he hasn’t been feeling well. The doctor examines him, leaves the room, and comes back with three different bottles of pills.

The doctor says, “Take the blue pill with a big glass of water when you get up. Take the green pill with a big glass of water after lunch. Then, before going to bed, take the red pill with another big glass of water.”

Startled to be put on so much medication, the elderly man stammers, “Exactly what is my problem? Tell me, is it serious?”

‘You’re not drinking enough water.’

Our choices to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic has enabled Seniors Outreach to move safely forward through initiating social distancing, the wearing of masks, using of hand sanitizer or washing our hands often with soap and water (for at least 20 seconds), encouraging the making of appointments, limited attendance and consistent cleaning. Further to this, we have continued to provide Caring Cars/Wheelchair bus for medical appointments, Meals On Wheels (both daily meals and Frozen meals (as well as low-income financial support for food/personal items) and the continual input through our Main Office in Three Hills.
