Trochu News - July 20, 2016

I’m sure most everyone is pleased with all the rain the past ten days or so. Lawns are green again, all vegetation has taken on renewed life and fields and sporting various shades of colour. The flower barrels around town are also beautiful.
The residents of St. Mary’s were honored with a special High Tea for the celebration of Seniors on June 23. Our volunteer, Mary Glen Guard, prepared the goodies and several staff served the residents for our special celebration.
The new Kneehill Medical Clinic is a very impressive facility complete with state-of-the-art equipment. Although our Doctors and office staff have moved to Three Hills, St. Mary’s Trochu Lab is open Monday to Friday. Please bring your Doctor’s requisition requests to Trochu where lab technicians welcome drop-ins or appointments. Your support is very vital to the well being of St. Mary’s Lodge and continuing care residents, as well as local town and surrounding area residents. For more information, please call the lab at 403-442-3955, ext. 3.
The wet weather on July 12 didn’t discourage members and guests from attending the monthly bingo and birthday celebrations at the drop-in. As usual, Jim Deering called the numbers for ten games. Ron Mossop was available to lend a helping hand and Agnes Greig was very thrilled to win the blackout prize. Happy Birthday was sung and those birthday persons to have their picture taken were Audrey Clarke, Jim Deering, Irene Diack, Al Gehring, Agnes Greig, Maureen Nelson and Grace Olfert. Visiting and birthday cake was enjoyed by all.
On July 7, Al Gehring celebrated his 85th birthday at the drop-in with family and many friends. As a special treat, Al’s daughter Lisa served fresh baked cinnamon rolls and birthday cake was enjoyed by all. Congratulations, Al, on reaching this milestone. This, too, is a big year for Maureen Nelson as she celebrates her 90th birthday at the Chateau in Three Hills Wednesday afternoon. Greetings and warm wishes from all your friends at the Trochu drop-in.
