The monthly Birthday celebrations and Bingo were held at the Senior’s Drop In on August 9. With Bruce Guard assisting, Jim Deering called the numbers for ten games. Sandra Guard was delighted to be the winner of the blackout prize and Dianne Bersett claimed the prizes for three of the games. Happy Birthday was sung and those present to have their picture taken were Lily Campbell, Larry Clarke and Bonny Teichroeb. Everyone enjoyed delicious cake and visiting. Congratulations and warm wishes go out to Jim Deering who celebrated his 80th birthday with family and friends at the Drop In July 26. A tasty brunch held August 4 was a huge success.

Trochu’s annual Flower, Baking and Photography Show is taking place this afternoon at the Community Centre. Everyone is welcome to come and view the entries, enjoy a cup of tea and a chicken supper. The fall season is fast approaching. Crops are ripening and a hummingbird has been spotted searching for food.

It is with sadness that the congregation of St. John’s Lutheran Church announce the closure of the church on St. John’s Street. Everyone is welcome to attend a special service on Sunday afternoon, August 21.

Trochu and District Hall Development Society 300 Club winner for July were Ed Knievel, Allan Diack, Joanne Peterson, Pat Holowath and Jim Balkwill.

Trochu Elks 200 Club winners for July were Kay Issler, Danielle Pageot, Keith Taylor, Aaron Stankievech and Neil Silver.
