As this column is being written, June 14, the wind is back in control with possible showers forecast for the afternoon. Hopefully, the almost perfect weekend weatherwise was not this year's summer. Are the birds trying to tell us something? This past week, residents on Poplar Avenue have witnessed flocks of waxwings swooshing into their trees. They appear to spend the day, disappear at night and return the next day. We're used to them flocking in, staying a few minutes and rushing off to another spot. They're beautiful birds so we don't mind them lingering and sharing the bird bath with other birds. It gives us another reason to enjoy our backyards.
