Those that cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it

Dear Editor,

If you have not watched President Trump’s July 4th Address to the nation from Mt Rushmore you need to. Love him or hate him he is a man who loves his country and puts it first, as a leader of a nation should. In contrast PM Trudeau appears to hate Canada and seems determined to lead us into a one world government ruled by the UN. President Trump resists the anarchy espoused by BLM and others while PM Trudeau joins them on bended knee. It is sad to watch as many try to rewrite or eliminate history, not realizing that is how all evil empires evolve. George Santayana said “those that cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” We should not try to eliminate our history, no matter how full of errors and wrongdoing but study and learn from it to do better. Many Americans and most Canadians believe that the Republicans promoted slavery and that the Democrats were the emancipators. The opposite is true, the Democrats fought tooth and nail to. maintain slavery even forming the Ku Klux Klan while the Republicans eventually abolished slavery in the USA. Canadian Liberals are like American Democrats, they espouse freedom but their actions prove otherwise.
