2023 Trochu Flower, Baking And Photography Show Results

Trochu Flower 2023

The 2023 Trochu Flower, Baking and Photography Show was held on August 16, 2023, in the Trochu Hall. There were a total of 67 adult entries and 16 junior entries in the flower, fruit and vegetable section.

The hall was colourful with high-quality entries. The Alberta Horticulture judges (AHA) were Gail Davies of Ponoka and Theresa Zerr of Strathmore. Attending also was an AHA apprentice, Debbie Hatt of Delburne.

The results are Most points in the Dahlia class won by Terri Lynn Dodd; Most points in the Gladiolus class won by Shirley Cullum; Arrangement using one or more candles - Janet Martin; Herbal Arrangement - Leona Pryor; Miniature Arrangement not to exceed 4” in any direction - Leona Pryor; Garden flower arrangement - Shirley Cullum; Cup and saucer arrangement of blue and white flowers - Janet Martin; Buffet arrangement - Shirley Cullum; Bouquet of Mixed flowers - Leona Pryor; Most points in flower section - Leona Pryor; Most points in house plants - Denise Radomske, Most points in vegetable section - 1st Joyce Silbernagel, 2nd Dorothy Meding; Herb collection - 5 or more in separate containers - Leona Pryor; Most points in fruit section (4-way tie) - Dan Silbernagel, Dorothy Meding, Ashley Savage and Leona Pryor; Most points in 10 years and under - Cai Winchester; Most points in 11-16 years- Cai Winchester; Rosette from AHA for most points in flower section - Leona Pryor.

Photography was judged by Laura Ewert and son, Michael Ewert. There were 104 entries in the adult section.

Best flower photo and winner of the Roland Langshaw Memorial Trophy - Hinka Ferguson.

Most points in the 13 and under photography - Joah Savage.

Baking was judged by Kathleen McKelvie of Ponoka. There were 27 adult entries and seven entries in the 16 and under and 14 entries in the 12 and under.

Most points in 12 and under were won by Cai Winchester. Most points in 16 and under tied - Cai Winchester and Alison Strelbisky.

Adult baking - Margaret Adam Memorial Trophy for the highest points in the first four categories in baking was won by Ashley Savage.

Most points in adult baking - Denise Radomske; 2nd most points - Gloria Coates.
