November 13-19 is the National Collection Week. This is the 30th year that Samaritan’s Purse Canada has collected shoeboxes for needy children worldwide.
Ray Ann Benedict coordinates the Central Drop-off, at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church in Three Hills, for our area. Ray Ann says, “Samaritan’s Purse has boxes that are produced specifically for the OCC project. We have two businesses that have boxes on hand for pickup. The Great Canadian Dollar Store in Three Hills and Sweet P’s in Trochu have partnered with us to make the boxes available. We are grateful for their assistance.”
The boxes are a tangible way to share God’s love with poverty stricken children. This year our Canadian shoeboxes are going to El Salvador, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Senegal, The Gambia, Guinea Bissau, Ukraine, Philippines and Sierra Leone. Last year 738 shoe boxes were packed in the Three Hills area.
Ray Ann has delivered boxes to quite a few churches and organizations that want to participate in the 2023 campaign and both stores now have their boxes as well. Boxes can be dropped off during the collection week. Drop off times are Monday, November 13 to Saturday, November 18 from 10:00 -12:00 & 1:00-3:00. Packed boxes can be taken to the two stores as well. All shoeboxes will be taken to Calgary to the Samaritan’s Purse warehouse to be sorted and prepared for shipping. If you need more information Ray Ann can be contacted at 403-357-4269.
