Great sound and stage presence

On a cold, rainy Sunday night an enthusiastic Three Hills audience was treated to the smooth vocal tones and picture perfect harmonies of Hilary Grist and Sara Ciantar. On their way to Winnipeg with many small town stops along the way, these two singer/songwriters did not fail to put all of their energy into a well-crafted set of songs accompanied by an unassuming, humorous and classy stage presence.
Ciantar opened up with songs borne out of her many travels around North America and Europe. Somewhere in between urban folk and country, Ciantar's deft skill at crafting a storybook of sound tells a poignant tale of a life well-lived. Grist followed with songs off of her new album "Imaginings", a mixture of jazz/pop blended with folk influence. Grist pulled out some real gems making use of a simple yet very effective piano backdrop and a warm, versatile voice not afraid to show glimpses of real power.
Both ladies accompanied each other with piano and guitar, and audiences were delighted to hear Ciantar's accordion making appearances on a few songs, an "instant polka party" Grist observed.
With a great sound and stage presence these talented musicians are hopefully among the first of many local and out of town musicians we'll see at the Arts Academy as we seek to host more shows like this. Well worth following, you can view the entire tour schedule and links to their music at and
Stay tuned for more to come!
