Three Hills Arts Academy presents “A Seussified Christmas Carol”

Seussified Dress Rehearsal

The Three Hills Arts Academy presents “A Seussified Christmas Carol” performed by the Kneehill Area Youth.

The play, written by Peter Bloedel and under the direction of Tiffany Dietz is advertised as “A whimsical reinvention of Dickens’s most beloved Christmas story.”

The narrators make clear from the beginning that this is NOT by Dr. Seuss, and it is not long into the performance that it becomes clear that while the story is going to feature the characters and plot outline of the classic Christmas Carol this is definitely a “reinvention”. The Seuss aspect is that the whole play is done in rhyme. Hint: What would you imagine if Ebenezer was known in his youth as “The Scrooge” and then imagine in what costume the “Spirit of Christmas Present” might appear.

There are 40 youths in total taking part. There are 27 actors per show. Ten will be in double casted roles. Seventeen will have 2 roles in the same performance. Some cast members will be on alternate performances. In addition to the actors there are 3 stage hands and 1 light master, with a number of adults involved in stage, costume and light and sound production.

Students are from Acme, Huxley, Linden, Swalwell and the Three Hills Town School, Prairie Christian Academy and Homeschool. They range in age from grade 3 to grade 12.

There are 8 performances with 2 pm and 7 pm performances on Saturdays and 7 pm shows on Thursdays and Fridays. (November 19-21 and 26-28).
