MESSAGE FROM THE VILLAGE OFFICE

• One person inside the Village Office at one time. COVID-19 rules apply. Kindly, remain outside until the person has left the building before entering. Wear a mask, sanitize your hands and practice social distancing. Please continue to make bill payments on-line. Thank you for your continued patience.

• The Village of Acme is accepting Election Nomination Forms for the upcoming 2021 Municipal Election in October. If you are interested in running for office, you can visit our website for further information including a Candidate’s Guide and printable Nomination forms. Please note, you must hand in your nomination form directly to the returning officer, Gary Sawatzky. Please call ahead to ensure he is in the office. We will accept nomination forms until September 20, 2021.

• Exciting news for the Village. We are in the process of building/updating our playgrounds. A new playground will be erected on the south side of the pool. We will be adding playground features to Rose Park. We need volunteers, if you’re able to assist in the set up on May 28 and/or May 29, please call the Village Office at 403-546-3783.

• The Village of Acme Office is currently accepting tenders for the position of Custodian. This position requires keeping the building and property in clean and orderly condition and keeping a running inventory and stock of all cleaning supplies. Cleaning frequency will be two times per week with potential additional cleaning with COVID-19 protocols. The office offers a friendly environment to work in and allows the individual(s) the empowerment they need to complete their tasks with minimal supervision. • Street Cleaning – scheduled for May 14, weather dependent. Watch for signs and remember to remove all vehicles off the street to ensure it can be cleaned.

• Acme’s annual garage sale is scheduled for May 15. Details to follow on the website & Acme communicator. COVID precautions will be encouraged.

• The Acme Campground opened May 1. Water services may not be available till May 15. Call Shannon or Danny at 403-312-2388 for details or to make your reservations.

• Featured Business of the Month: Snips Hair Styling, owned and operated by Carmel. Located at 128 Main Street. Carmel has built up a client list where several of our locals go for a cut and style regularly. Please call 403-546-0006 to book an appointment.

• The Acme Municipal Library is CLOSED due to COVID-19, curbside pick up is in place. Please refer to the acme website www.acme.ca for more information.

• Teacher’s Week is May 3 - 7. Let’s take a moment to celebrate our teachers!! Send an e-card, have your child write a letter and mail it to their favorite teacher, send a thank you note with your child to school, drop off a gift card for food or supplies for the classroom.

• Public Work’s Week is May 16 - 22. Public Works professionals focus on infrastructure, facilities and services that are of vital importance to sustainable and resilient communities and to the public health, high quality of life and well-being of the people of Acme.

• We have a new section on the Acme Website, Local Job Opportunities. If employers are looking to hire local residents, they can let us know and will add the job opportunity to our site.

• The Acme pool is looking to hire junior and senior lifeguards for the 2021 season. If you or someone you know is 16 or turning 16 by June or older and interested in getting your NLS and WSI email: acmeswim@gmail.com for more information.

• Water Meter Replacement in the Village is in progress. We have contracted Cisco Plumbing from Linden to replace the meters. If you have any questions/concerns, please call the Village Office.

• AHS is operating a mobile Mammography Clinic May 13 - May 20, 2021 in Three Hills. Please refer to the Acme website for important details.

• No one wants to look at or step in dog/cat poop!! Animal Reminder, as a pet owner it is your responsibility to clean up after your dog/cat. Including neighbor’s yards, sidewalks, along roads, paths or trails surrounding the community. Carry the necessary bags to clean up.

• Please have your garbage bagged & out for pick up on Wednesdays by 8 a.m.

• Transfer Site hours – Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

• The Village of Acme is now accepting applications for summer student employees as Public Work Labourers. Applicants must be physically fit, have a valid driver’s license and be available to work July 5 - August 31 inclusive. Interested parties can drop off their resumes at the Village Office at 203 Clarke Street, Acme, AB or email to pw@acme.ca or send via fax 403-546-3014.
