NEXT COUNCIL MEETINGS – Monday, March 10, 2014 at 7:00 PM.

2014 PHONE BOOKS – Area phone books are ready for pick up at the Village office.

DUELING PIANOS – March 15 the Carbon Fire Department presents DUELING PIANOS. Ticket available at the Village office at $35 each. Cocktails at 6 PM; supper at 6:30 PM. Silent Auction. Mardi Gras themed night!

SKATE PARK FUND RAISER – There will be a Teen Dance on February 15 at the Community Hall to raise funds for a skateboard park in Carbon. Tickets are $5/person; ages 12-17; time 8 PM to midnight.

CARBON DISCOVERY NIGHT – March 4 from 5-7 PM. Carbon will be hosting the Volunteer Appreciation Community Discovery and Sport Registration Night. Enjoy hot dogs, hamburgers and find out what services and resources are available in the community.

DOG AND CAT LICENSES – As of February 1, 2014, fees are $35 for dogs and cats; $45 for unaltered dogs and unaltered cats.

LIONS CENTENNIAL PARK PAVERS – Second installation of pavers will be in 2014. Should you be interested in purchasing one, contact the village office. Deadline is April 30, 2014.

WATER RATE INCREASE – Village of Carbon water rates will be increased as of January 1, 2014. These rates will be reflexed on your January-February bill. Present water rate is $3.30/cubic meter. Increase will be $3.80/cubic meter. Your average billing will increase approximately to $165.84.

SNOW REMOVAL – By-Law 2008-760 states that all persons within the Village of Carbon are required to remove all snow, ice, dirt and other obstructions from sidewalks situated on land adjoining the property owned or occupied by them. The Village of Carbon is hereby authorized to provide for the clearing of sidewalks adjoin the property of residents or business who for 48 hours neglect to clear them and in the case of non-payment of expenses by the owner or occupant the expense will be added to the property owners roll number as an amount owing to the property tax roll to be recovered in a like manner as with other taxes. (Penalty $40/hour, min. one hour charge).
