RESULTS OF THE NOTICE OF VOTE ON A BYLAW OR QUESTION - BORROWING BYLAW 2022-865 ON NOVEMBER 15:

In Favour - 102, Opposed – 75, Blank – 1. The Village of Carbon would like to thank the residents that came out to vote along with the Scrutineers: Alana Cunningham, Amanda Weisner Morgan, Bryce Brodie, Deputy Returning Officers: Carmel Renton, Kim Nicholson, Vanessa Van der Meer, and the Returning Officer Bill Wulff.

SNOW AND ICE REMOVAL REMINDER: Now that the snow has begun to fall, please remember that it is the responsibility of every property owner to ensure that the sidewalks adjoining their property are kept clear of snow, ice, dirt, and other obstructions within 48 hours after a snowfall. This means the whole width of the sidewalk, cleared down to bare pavement, including driveway sidewalks. Please place snow back onto your property. Electrical cords need to be erected at least 2.5 meters above the sidewalk. Fines apply for non-compliance. Thank you for your attention to this matter. It is much appreciated for the safety of all residents!

SNOW REMOVAL & WINDROWS: A windrow is a pile of snow that accumulates at the end of driveways and on the sides of streets during plowing. Public Works does not intentionally block driveways. They have limited control over the amount and direction of snow that comes off the plow. The plow blade is at a set position and does not have the ability to swivel around driveways. For Public Works to provide the most efficient and cost-effective snow removal, continuous movement is required. With hundreds of driveways in the Village it is not practical or cost effective for them to lift the blade at every driveway or back-alley garage access. It is the responsibility of the property owner to remove the windrows. Please help your neighbour if they need assistance. The snow angels in Carbon are much appreciated! After a snowfall the priority is to clear the snow from Caradoc Avenue (School, Parkview Lodge, Post Office, Grocery Store, Fire Hall), both hills on Essex Street & Glengarry Street, make a safe pass for all other streets, and then back alleys.

2022 VILLAGE OF CARBON TAXES: All outstanding 2022 taxes must be paid on or before DECEMBER 31, 2022. If a balance remains on your tax account after this date, an 18% penalty will be applied on January 1, 2023. Taxes may be paid cash, cheque, credit card, debit, e-transfer to admin@villageofcarbon.com, or through online banking using your tax roll number as the account number.

GARBAGE BINS & CONTAINERS: Now that the weather is cooler, it is an excellent time to clean out refuse and debris that may have collected in your garbage bins & containers during the summer months.
