2023 EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: The Village of Carbon is now accepting resumes for Campground Attendant (May – September 30th, average of 20 hours per week). Summer Lifeguards (May – August), Public Works Labourer Summer Students (1 position: May 2 – Aug 26, 2 positions: July 2 – Aug 26), Go to the Village of Carbon Website at www.villageofcarbon.com under Opportunities, Jobs, Bids & Tenders for detailed information about each position.
PARKVIEW LODGE: Bachelor Suite, $575.00 monthly rent, includes heat, power, water, sewer, garbage, laundry, 1 parking space, and an assigned small storage space. Not included in rent: cable/satellite TV, phone, and internet. Wireless internet available for an additional charge. A security deposit ($575.00) and 1st month rent ($575.00) are required before moving in. An application form must be completed along with a medical report from a doctor. UTILITY INCREASE: The Village of Carbon’s bi-monthly Utility Bill includes water, sewer, and garbage collection. Increase is effective January 2023 and will be applied to the January-February Utility Billing Cycle as per the Master Rates Bylaw 2022-868. The Basic
Bi-Monthly Charge: Residential - $224.55, Commercial - $235.17. Additional Water Consumption: 1 Cubic Meter - $5.11, 1000 Gallons - $23.21.
2023 BUSINESS LICENSE RENEWALS: Available for $10.00 and are due no later than January 31, 2023. All businesses are advertised in the monthly newsletter, Facebook, and the Village Website.
2023 ANIMAL LICENSES: Until January 31, 2023: Altered Dog or Cat is $20, Unaltered is $30, Beehive $25. After January 31, 2023: Altered Dog or Cat is $35, Unaltered $45, Beehive $40. Licensing your animals is not just the Animal Bylaw, but also a way to protect your adored pets. If your pet happens to go missing, the tag it is wearing can be tracked back to the Village Office where your name and phone number is on file. If you choose not to purchase an animal tag and your pet is found at large, you will be fined as per the Master Fees Bylaw 2021-859.
CARBON EAST & MAIN CAMPGROUND 1ST DAY OF BOOKING: February 1, 2023, at 8:00 am. Bookings are through Camp Reservations Canada, www.campreservations.ca, select Carbon East or Main Campground, Book Now – Happy Camping! Campground Event Booking for weddings, reunions, etc. available in January.
CURLING IN CARBON: Junior Curling will begin on Monday, January 9. Open to youth aged 6-17 years. Registration at 6:30 pm, Curling at 7:00 pm. DRUMHELLER RCMP TOWN HALL MEETING: Drumheller RCMP Detachment Members invite members of the public to attend a Town Hall Meeting at the Carbon Community Centre on January 24, 2023, at 7:00 pm. Town Hall meetings serve as an opportunity to openly discuss community issues, policing issues, meet members of the local detachment, and more.
