EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES: Director of Emergency Management - The Village of Carbon is looking for a new Director of Emergency Management. This is a volunteer position, with an annually paid honorarium. The responsibilities of the Director of Emergency Management are to maintain communications with Emergency Site Manager and Elected Officials during the term of the emergency by reporting to and activating the Emergency Operations Centre, notifying the members of the Emergency Management Agency. They would activate the Municipal Emergency Plan and recommend a Declaration of a State of Local Emergency to the Local Authority. They would have to determine if municipal resources are adequate to manage the emergency; cooperate with other municipal departments, adjacent municipalities, and other emergency services; recommend the Local Authority approve mutual aid; They would be responsible to recommend, when required, that assistance be requested from the provincial or federal governments; They would be responsible for taking such action as is necessary to minimize the effects of the emergency persons, property, or the environment; maintaining a log of all actions taken; requesting a full report of all emergency operations from each emergency service activated; and track lessons learned and conduct a post-activity review. The successful candidate will be required to take appropriate training as deemed necessary by the Village to fulfill the duties of the DEM.
