OFFICE CLOSURE

The Town of Three Hills will be closed on

Monday, February 20, 2023, in recognition of Family Day. Regular hours will resume on Tuesday, February 21, 2023.

PRE-AUTHORIZED PAYMENT PLAN

The Town offers a Pre-Authorized Payment Plan to individuals and organizations that want to pay their taxes monthly. Twelve monthly installments are electronically deducted from a designated bank account on the first business day of each month. Tax accounts on the Pre-Authorized Payment Plan are NOT subject to the penalties levied on July 1, October 1 and January 1.

January is the best time to start on the program! Come see us at the Town Hall, or application forms are available on our website; samples of void cheques or bank account information can be emailed to taxes@threehills.ca.

DUTCH ELM DISEASE PREVENTION

- The only time it is legal to prune elms in Alberta is between October 1 and March 31.

- Elm bark beetles feed on healthy elms and breed over winter in dead and dying elm trees.

- If elm trees are pruned between April 1 and September 30, potentially infested beetles will be drawn to the scent of the fresh pruning cuts and infect your otherwise healthy elm.

Parks & Recreation Labourer

(Temporary Full-Time)

The Town of Three Hills is seeking one (1) Parks & Recreation Labourer for the 2023 season. If you would like to gain meaningful employment, learn about working in public service and serve the community in which you live, join the Town of Three Hills. Duties involve working with and around equipment and power tools while adhering to Health and Safety procedures and policies. The anticipated start dates will be April 2023 through until the end of August 2023.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain recreational facilities and town-owned lands including mowing, weeding, tree maintenance, painting, and clean up

• Assist in maintaining and repairing facilities to ensure safety and reliability

• Waste collection, line painting, road maintenance and assist with safety barricades

• May be required to assist with community events and administrative tasks

• Assist with painting, mowing at utility-related job sites, cleaning, etc.

• Work cooperatively with the management team and support other departments

• May assist with duties at the landfill

• May assist with the application of herbicides and pesticides on public lands

• Practice and encourage safe work behaviours

The preferred candidate will possess:

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence

• Capable of physical labour

• Comfort working in an environment with weather fluctuations

• Available to work evenings and weekends

• Effective communication, both verbally and in writing

• Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and professionally at all times

• Commitment to quality and safety

• Ability to use computers and tablets

• Ability to use discretion regarding confidential matters

• Previous landscaping experience is considered an asset
