MUNICIPAL GRANTS

Applications are now being accepted for Municipal Grants to Community Groups. Deadline to submit is March 15, 2024. Employment Opportunity

Summer Staff (Temporary Part-Time)

The Town of Three Hills is seeking one (1) Temporary Part-Time Summer Staff to work evenings and weekends watering and maintaining flowerpots and young trees. If you are an independent self-starter with a passion for caring for flowers and trees in our community, join our team!

The anticipated start date for this position will be late May 2024 and will continue through to the end of September 2024.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Oversee flowerpots and young tree watering requirements

• Ability to operate a truck with a water pump system

• Monitor flowerpots and young trees and advise the supervisor of any issues

• Maintain the working area, keep it clean and orderly and remove any debris or litter

• Practice and encourage safe work behaviours

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s licence

• Required to work evenings and weekends

• Highly motivated self-starter

• Must be detail oriented and organized

• Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds

• Physical demands may include, bending, stooping, reaching, lifting, walking, standing and using stairs

• Comfort working in an environment with weather fluctuations

• Effective communication, both verbally and in writing

• Ability to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, and professionally at all times

• Commitment to quality and safety

• Ability to use discretion regarding confidential matters

• Previous landscaping experience is considered an asset

The Town of Three Hills is seeking to hire two (2) Summer Labourers for the 2024 season. If you would like to gain meaningful employment, learn about working in the public service and serve the community in which you live, join the Town of Three Hills. Duties involve working with and around equipment and power tools while adhering to Health and Safety procedures and policies. The anticipated start date for the first position will be May 6, 2024, and will continue through to the end of September 2024. The anticipated start date of the second position will be May 6, 2024, and will continue through to the end of August 2024.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain recreational facilities and town-owned lands including mowing, weeding, tree maintenance, painting, and clean up

• Assist in maintaining and repairing facilities to ensure safety and reliability

• Waste collection, line painting, road maintenance and assist with safety barricades

• May be required to assist with community events and administrative tasks

• Assist with painting, mowing at utility-related job sites, cleaning, etc.

• Work cooperatively with the management team and support other departments

• May assist with duties at the landfill

• May assist with the application of herbicides and pesticides on public lands

• Practice and encourage safe work behaviours

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

• Successful completion of a Grade 12 diploma or GED certificate

• Must have a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence

• Capable of physical labour

• Comfort working in an environment with weather fluctuations

• Available to work evenings and weekends

• Effective communication, both verbally and in writing

• Commitment to quality and safety

• Ability to use computers and tablets

• Previous landscaping experience is considered an asset
