Three Hills Notices - November 18, 2020

BYLAW NO 1458-20

Date: December 14, 2020

Time: 5:30 PM

Place: Council Chambers, Town of Three Hills Office

232 Main Street, Three Hills, AB T0M 2A0

In order for a municipality to work within the changing pressures for land use, the Land Use Bylaw needs to be reviewed on a regular basis to ensure it stays relevant. On October 13, 2020, administration brought the Land Use Bylaw to the Committee of the Whole at which Council and Administration reviewed the document in depth.

Since the Land Use Bylaw should coincide with the Strategic Plan, this was also an opportunity for Council to ensure this Land Use Bylaw is in fact a reflection of this Council’s vision for our Town. Council and Administration requested some amendments to be made in light of the Strategic Plan and the priority of Red Tape Reduction.

Administration has also incorporated some clauses out of the MGA, clarified some sections, combined numerous land use districts, and added some uses to these districts that will allow for landowners to develop their land easier. These proposed amendments were also presented to Council at the November 9, 2020 meeting where first reading of the Bylaw was passed. Therefore, Take Notice that a public hearing to contemplate the proposed Bylaw 1458-20 will be held in the Town Council Chambers at 5:30 PM on the 14th day of December 2020.

Pursuant to sections 230, 606 and 692 of the Municipal Government Act, Revised Statutes of Alberta 2000, Chapter M-26, as amended, the Council of the Town of Three Hills in the Province of Alberta hereby gives notice of its intention to amend the Land Use Bylaw.

Oral and written comments and suggestions are invited and should be addressed to the point of the proposed Bylaw. They may be made by any person or group of persons or a person acting on his or their behalf, who claims to be affected by the proposed bylaw, and by any other persons that Council wishes to hear at the hearing. Written submissions may be made by the persons above and must be received in the Town of Three Hills Office by Noon on Wednesday December 9th, 2020. It should also be noted, written submissions will become public. Oral presentations may be made at the hearing by the persons above.
