A Year In Review With The Trochu & District Ag Society

Trochu District AG Society

A little about our 2023 season.  We started the season off with our Annual Winter Family Fun Day. As a thank you to the community and surrounding area, this is a free event complete with Wagon rides, Hotdogs, Hot Chocolate and Bonfire. This took place on February 19th and will always run consecutively every Sunday of the Family Day Weekend.

Each year we work on providing clinicians at our grounds. We are open to new ideas on clinicians we can organize. This year we had Steve Theissen’s Breakaway Roping Clinic and Mounted Medieval Games Clinic. Both were well attended and we enjoyed putting them on.

On June 24th, we brought to you the 2nd Annual Bull-a-Rama. With crowds more than doubling our first year. We were joined by the Bowden Rodeo princesses, a Cotton Candy entrepreneur and a young upcoming sheep wrangler. What an exciting event it was and we look forward to having more.

Canada Day weekend we had an amazing weekend filled with our annual Junior Rodeo. We had the Crooked Horn Junior Rodeo association for a 2-day event. On July 1st, we brought in bouncy castles, a Petting Zoo as well as a Face painter. We were also excited to have Trick Riders as our halftime show, along with an exciting opportunity to present flowers to Canadian Legend Trick Rider, Clair Dewar Roberts. We finished off Canada Day with our Annual Ball Tournament Dance.

With the grounds open to rental opportunities, we have had a few occasions when this option was used. We enjoyed having the CGRA (Canadian Girls Rodeo Association) on July 8th and a private Rental for a Wedding reception on July 22nd.

We are also excited to be able to provide even more seating this upcoming year. By setting funds aside, having the support of the Town of Trochu and a grant from Kneehill County, we were able to raise enough funds to receive a CFEP grant. We are having our new Bleachers delivered this Spring. We have also been awarded a smaller grant to put towards a new storage/rodeo office building. We hope to have that soon as well.

Moving forward, we are looking at a very exciting year. 2024 will be the Trochu & Districts Ag Society's 50th Anniversary of being registered. Along with our Family Fun Day, Bull-a-Rama and Canada Day Junior Rodeo. We are working on having a country fair with games, contests, judging, supper and an animal zoo, in August.

With our anniversary year approaching, we decided to recreate our Logo. Keep an eye out for it to spot our events. Thank you for your support and we look forward to the 2024 season.
