Acme Fire Department was dispatched to a fire on the east side of their Village Saturday evening, around 11:30 pm. Linden Fire & Rescue was called in for backup, as was Carbon. Carbon was asked to stand down when firefighters realized upon arriving at the scene that an old abandoned barn was already fully involved.
There was no hope to save it, only to control it's spread to nearby fields and a residence, also abandoned. The barn and residence was on Heritage Drive, just across the road from Heritage Estates. The property is owned by Hendrikus (deceased), and Johanna Peters who is no longer living at the residence. Arson is suspected and is being investigated by RCMP.
