Richard Marz, MLA, presented a Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) grant cheque in the amount of $20, 750.00 to Carbon & District Recreation Board for the electrical upgrade for the Main & East Campground facilities. The Village of Carbon is currently placing advertisements for the tender of this upgrade and anticipating this project being completed by December 15, 2010.
The benefits to this electrical upgrade would include Kneehill County's residents, residents of the Village of Carbon, campers and visitors to our community. Without the campgrounds, we would not be able to operate the swimming pool, skating rink, ball diamonds or maintain our pathways and playground equipment that many people take advantage of whether it be through swimming lessons, public swim, public skating, hockey, softball practice and tournaments, bike riding and enjoying nature walks.
Campers that have come to visit in the past and continue to book in the future have stated that they have fallen in love with our picturesque, quiet village that boasts a warm, friendly environment. Camping in Carbon has become a summer tradition and a highlight of their favorite places to visit.
The Village of Carbon and the Carbon & District Recreation Board are anxious to complete this project, so we can offer an enhanced service to the campers who visit our community for the 2011 season.
