Wade Bearchell, second term Olds Town Councillor, was successful in becoming the Progressive Conservative candidate, in the next Provincial election, for the Olds/Didsbury/Three Hills (ODTH) constituency.
ODTH Association President William Stevenson declared Bearchell the winner after a nomination meeting and vote on Saturday, March 14.
Bearchell was victorious over fellow Councillor Debbie Bennett and former Mountain View County Councillor Ron Richardson.
In a media interview, Bearchell was asked what has to be done to win this riding for the PC's. He replied: "A lot of the Conservatives in our party are united because they know it's going to be a bit of a fight trying to get this riding back, back to being a PC riding." According to Bearchell, "campaigning starts right now."
At present, Bearchell's only competition is acclaimed Wildrose candidate, Nathan Cooper.
