Watershed Alliance Spring Forum and General Meeting to be held in Trochu

Red Deer — The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) Society will be holding its Spring Forum & General Meeting on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at the Trochu Community Centre (215 North Field Road) The event is entitled "724 Kilometers of Water Quality and You".
Registration gets underway at 9:20 a.m. with the Forum and General Meeting starting at 9:45 am. The morning features a talk by Mike Nemeth, Environmental Specialist at Alberta WaterSMART. His presentation will focus on Climate Vulnerability and Sustainable Water Management in the Red Deer River Basin. There will be an update on current RDRWA Activities, followed by an overview of water quality in the Red Deer River Watershed. This will be followed by five presentations looking at water quality: lake management; nutrient management; wetland restoration; environmental practices to protect water quality & fish habitats and Invasive species rounding out the morning.
There will be a networking opportunity at lunch. Following lunch, we will lead into a Questions & Answer period regarding the morning presentations, then there will be a brief update on an Integrated Watershed Management Plan (IWMP) being produced by RDRWA & Water Lab Processes. The afternoon will close with an Interactive Water Quality exercise and a Watershed calendar update. The event is scheduled to wrap up by 2:45 p.m.
The Alliance is inviting anyone interested to register and attend the full day of activities. "We want the general public to know they are most welcome to register and take in the event," "Watershed management & protection can't be done in isolation and we really value your input," says Jeff Hanger, Executive Director of the Alliance.

The Red Deer River Watershed Alliance (RDRWA) Society is a multi-sector, non-profit organization, federally registered as a charity. The RDRWA promotes the good use and proper management of water in the Red Deer River Watershed. The Alliance was created in September 2005 and is one of eleven Watershed Planning and Advisory Councils, which are part of Alberta's Water for Life Strategy.
