Dr. Martin Reedyk Honored


Dr. Martin Reedyk received an award entitled "Friends of Nigeria in Medicine and Humanitarian Outreach" on October 8th, 2010, at the Embassy in Ottawa, Ontario. He, and four others were chosen to receive this award, which is an attempt at condoning the years of hard work Martin has dedicated to the people of Nigeria. It is given to those who have fostered good relationships with the Nigerian people, and pertains to the field of Medicine and Humanitarian efforts. Dr. Reedyk started travelling to Nigeria, Africa in September of 1970. He spent eight years full time in a mission hospital. For the past 20 years, Dr. Reedyk has been travelling once or twice a year back to Nigeria to help develop better health programs, and to better meet the needs of the rural poor people. He is supportive of the Nigerian doctors who are trying to set up higher quality health programs. Martin and his wife, Ann, are shown here with their Nigerian friend, wearing the outfits made for them by their friends for the occasion.
