Tree of Hope fundraising continues

Tree Hope 2020

The Three Hills and District Palliative Care Society, Tree of Hope, found something of a silver lining in the midst of the COVID-19 restrictions.

Having lost the opportunity to be present at the annual Christmas Market for two days they found instead the “open door” to set up their display and receive donations at the Makers’ Mark store on Main Street. They are receiving donations until after Christmas.

The Tree of Hope has been an annual fund raising event for the past 10 years, raising funds to provide equipment to the Palliative Care units in the Three Hills District. The goal this year is to raise between $4,000.00 and $5,000.00 for a “wheeled reclining comfort chair” for the palliative care patients in the Three Hills Health Centre. As of this report it looks like they have exceeded the $5000.00 goal.

Generous donations have been forthcoming from local Three Hills residents and former residents as far as the word has spread. The testimony of some is that they are giving because their parents had received such wonderful care in the Palliative Care units.

Heather Hansen, Chairperson of the Palliative Care Society expressed appreciation to the generous donors as well as to Tim and Elizabeth Miller for making space in the Makers’ Mark for the trees.

Society treasurer, Maureen Arvidson came up with arrangements that allow donors to give by Interact and e-transfer and this has made it convenient for those who may not be able to come by.
