On Aug. 11, 2021, at approximately 1:30 p.m. emergency crews responded to a report of a collision on Highway 21 approximately 2 kms south of the junction to Highway 27 West. Three Hills RCMP, RCMP collision analyst, AHS ground ambulance, Three Hill Fire Services, Trochu Fire Services and STARS all assisted with this collision.

Preliminary investigation reveals a pick-up truck travelling southbound, behind a semi-truck also travelling southbound on Highway 21, crossed the center line. When this pick-up truck crossed the center line, a collision occurred with an on-coming pick-up truck travelling northbound on Highway 21. The pick-up truck heading north was towing a travel trailer, which made contact with the semi-truck heading southbound. Due to the guard rails, all vehicles remained on the highway. However, Highway 21 is blocked and traffic is being rerouted at this time.

The 43-year-old lone male driver of the pick-up truck travelling southbound, of Lacombe, Alta., was transported via STARS to a nearby hospital with serious non-life threatening injuries. The 41-year-old lone male driver of the semi-truck, of Mannville, Alta., was transported by ground ambulance to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The 69-year-old male driver and 78-year-old female passenger, both of Three Hills, Alta, of the pick-up truck travelling northbound were transported by ground ambulance to local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An update will be provided when the road is clear.
