Kneehill County presented Matt and Tara Sawyer, of Acme, with a congratulatory plaque for their having won the 2011 Provincial title of Outstanding Young Farmers. They were invited to Kneehill County's June 14 regular meeting so Council could offer their personal congratulations and wish them well for the National title, to be held in Brandon, Manitoba, November 2011. Acme Students Win ATB Young Artist Competition

 

Jihoo Kim and Benjamin Wolstenholme-Schmidt are Grade 4 students of Acme School, whose artwork was chosen from hundreds of entries across all corners of Alberta in the inaugural ATB Financial Young Artist Competition, that had ATB Financial teaming up with the Art Gallery of Alberta in Edmonton.

Appreciation for Excellence

The Village of Linden, with support from the Village of Acme and Kneehill County, barbecued up a steak supper for volunteer firemen from both Acme and Linden departments, as well as ambulance staff and public works. The event took place at the Linden Cultural Center on Thursday evening, June 16 and was well attended, including representation of Councillors and Mayors from both communities and the County. On the evening of Saturday, June 18th, a Three Hills RCMP member attempted to stop a 2004 black pickup truck that was traveling 166 km/hr on hwy 21 north of Huxley, AB.
In an attempt to evade police, the lone male occupant of the vehicle drove through a ditch and entered a farm yard. The male then fled the area on foot into nearby fields and wooded areas. With assistance from local residents and the Red Deer Police Dog Section, the male was taken into custody approximately one hour later.
