Linda Marlene Peters, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on May 2, 2023, in Three Hills, Alberta. Born on March 30, 1948, in Innisfail, Alberta, Linda was known for her kindness, thoughtfulness, and optimistic spirit. Linda completed her grade 8 education at Bowden and started her family shortly thereafter. She also attended college in the 1990s for hospitality, demonstrating her dedication to lifelong learning and personal growth. Throughout her life, Linda was a hard worker who took pride in her various roles and contributions to her community. Starting as a homemaker, Linda devoted herself to creating a nurturing and loving home for her family. After the passing of her husband, Bob, in 1983, she transitioned to working at the Yale Hotel Restaurant to provide for her children. Her life took her all over Alberta in various positions, including cooking in camps up north, where she gained a reputation for her delicious meals and warm personality. Linda’s final job before retirement was as a cook at the Playfair Lodge, a position she spoke very highly of and cherished for its camaraderie and sense of purpose. Even in retirement, Linda’s desire to help others led her to pick up shifts at the Drop-in Center, where she continued to make a positive impact on those around her. In addition to her professional endeavors, Linda was extremely proud to be a member of the Royal Purple in Trochu. Her involvement with the organization allowed her to give back to her community and form lasting connections with fellow members. Linda was predeceased by her loving husband, Bob, in 1983, and her youngest son, Tommy, in 2017. She also endured the loss of several siblings and her parents in earlier years. Despite these hardships, Linda remained an optimistic and resilient woman who always found the strength to persevere and continue living a meaningful life. She is survived by her Daughters Brenda Jewel, Elaine McRae, and Son Bobby Shanks and all of their respective families as well as her many friends in the community. Throughout her 75 years, Linda showed kindness, thoughtfulness, and optimism. Her warm personality and willingness to help others endeared her to everyone she met, leaving an impact on countless lives. In honoring Linda’s memory, let us remember the joy she brought to our lives, the laughter we shared, and the love that she so selflessly gave to us all. May we carry on her legacy of kindness and optimism, always striving to see the beauty in the world and the goodness in others. Rest in peace. Your memory will remain in our hearts.
