KOBER, Kimberly Anne

Obit Kim Kober

Kimberly Anne Kober passed away at home May 19th, 2023, two days beyond her 50th birthday. Beloved partner of Ryan Fraser and “mother” to too many cats to count. Kimberly grew up on a farm southeast of Huxley with her mother Shirley, father Burleigh Kober, and older brother and sister Tracey and Dixie; and later at the K&K home place her cousin Lisa Jorgensen joined them. Having a happy childhood until the passing of her brother Tracey in 1985 in a snowmobiling accident, following the whole family struggled to cope and overcome. Kim graduated from Trochu Valley High School in 1992 and attended Red Deer College to study art which was her great talent. Kimberly met Ryan in 1993 through her cousin Lisa. Starting with almost nightly phone conversations their relationship grew, and in the fall of 1995, they moved into an apartment in Red Deer, ready to begin their lives together. Circumstances of life caused a separation in 1997, in the next few years Kimberly went to college and began a new relationship with Lyle of Three Hills where she lived for a time after college. As fate would have it, in the early 2000’s Kim and Ryan were reunited for good. Kimberly would stay on the family farm, doing chores as long as they raised pork, raising many cats, and running a combine for some years when they were custom harvesting. She, along with her father and aunt Lorraine helped care for her mother through Shirley’s fight with cancer. After Shirley’s passing in 2009 Kim would remain on the farm helping her father as best she could until his sudden passing in 2014. Her father was always big in Kim’s eyes and the next few years were very difficult for her. In 2015 Kimberly moved into Huxley with her longtime love Ryan, where she spent the rest of her days as she pleased; home making, shopping for bargains at least once a week with her confidant and friends Beverly Fraser and Cliff Campbell, and of course taking care of her cats. Kimberly, as stated, was predeceased by her brother Tracey in 1985, her mother Shirley in 2009, and her father Burleigh in 2014. She is survived by her love Ryan Fraser of Huxley, her sister Dixie Kober of Olds (niece Alecia & nephew Lucas), her cousin Lisa Bolt of Red Deer (husband Corey, children Caleb and Quinten), and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Kimberly Anne Kober will be remembered always as a kind, generous, caring and delicate soul. She was at once strong, yet fragile. She loved her friends and family, and of course always her cats, deeply and without constraint. She was opinionated, and shy, and stubborn as could be. She was taken far too soon and will be remembered, missed, and loved for all time to come. Services to be announced later.
