REIMER, Jacob T.

In loving memory of Jac, our dear Dad, Papa, and Papapa Jacob T. Reimer was born on the family farm near Swalwell, AB on September 28, 1926, to Henry L. and Susie Toews Reimer. He peacefully passed away just before supper on April 27, 2024, surrounded by his beloved family. His childhood was filled with many interesting adventures and happy times along with his parents and siblings on the family farm. Dad was converted at a young age and baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on May 10, 1942. We could always feel God’s love in his life. He enjoyed working for Paul Toews and Herman Isaac at the lumber camps. He also worked as a welder and machinist at Linden Machine Works. During this time, he got his Machinist ticket at SAIT. We loved seeing the twinkle in his eyes as he told us stories about his antics. He made lifelong friendships during this time. He married our Mom, Bernice Reimer, on December 16, 1960. In 1965, they bought the farm where they lived until retiring. These were happy, busy years where we enjoyed all the benefits of working on the farm together. As Dad said, they were blessed with “some hail, some dry, and some good years”. He worked hard and provided well for us. Dad and Mom loved to travel, and we have many happy memories of trips taken together, whether to visit friends and family, camping in the mountains, or to enjoy nature. Dad loved the men his daughters married as his own sons. The boys have happy memories of working alongside Dad as he shared his expertise and knowledge. As grandchildren and great-grandchildren were born, Papa embraced this new era. He always had time for us no matter what he was doing, making each of us feel special. A fishing trip with family and friends was good whether we caught fish or not. Dad’s quiet, generous nature won him many friends. He had a listening ear and humbly shared his wisdom and talent of being able to fix almost anything. We are thankful for his example of unselfish living and devotion to God. As Mom’s health declined in later years, Dad patiently and lovingly cared for her. Dad and Mom spent the last years of their life at the Westview Care Community. Their love and devotion for each other was strong for over 60 years until Mom passed in March of 2021, leaving Dad very lonely. Thank you to those at Westview Care Community who lovingly cared for Dad. Those left with precious memories are: his children Bev & Jason Cottier and Cheryl & Steve Berniko; his grand and great-grandchildren Rynelle & Dalen Ratzlaff, Colby & Kaden, Chris Cottier & Katie Kramer, Ashley Cottier, Kayleen & Bob Schartner, Sienna & Elliott, Jenni & Brennan Isaac, Gabby & Ensley, Andrea & Hunter Shultz, and Kyle & Samantha Berniko; and special friends Lewis & Ruth Klassen. As well as Dad’s family; sister-in-law Jean Reimer, brother-in-law Lloyd Penner and Mom’s family; Susanna Reimer, Howard & Edith Reimer, Ralph & Jeri Reimer, and Gilbert Reimer. Services were held Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, Linden, AB. Jac was laid to rest at the Linden Cemetery. For more information, visit
