SUNTJENS, Sharlene Lida

February 12, 1958

- September 21, 2010

Sharlene Lida Suntjens was born in Cranbrook, B.C. on February 12th, 1958. She attended school in Canal Flats, B.C. from grades one through eight and then completed the rest of her schooling in Invermere, B.C. She thoroughly enjoyed the organized sports and shop classes provided by the school. At an early age she moved to a farm in southern Coronation, A.B. where her two children Kody and Krista were born and raised. She became a true Albertan who had no desire to come back home to B.C., although she did miss the fresh smell of the pine trees. During her years in Coronation she worked at the local daycare and later on at Sam's trucking based out of Consort, A.B. In the early 2000's she moved to Trochu with her son Kody where she began work at the hospital. This did not last very long as she was hired on at Trochu Valley School where she eventually became the head caretaker of the school. She was known for her precise, perfectionist, and hard working ways. Sharlene has a great love for animals even while she lived in Coronation, especially a new found love for "The Goats." People who knew her well realized that her dogs were the love of her life. She also took pride in her yard and gardening, always making her flowers a great spectacle to see. Her other interests included crafts, wood work, crocheting, puzzles, and most importantly yahtzee. She was a loving and caring person who touched many people's lives including her adopted son Stuart Quilliam. She always had so much love to give and people were truly blessed to know her. Sharlene's life ended suddenly on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at The Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, A.B. when her battle with cancer was lost. She will be thought of and missed by many. Sharlene is survived by her sons Kody Suntjens (Ocean Dewitt), Stuart Quilliam, daughter Krista Soleski( Patrick Soleski), sisters Shannon Flexhaug (Grant Flexhaug), and Vicki Syfchuck (Merlin Syfchuck) as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews. A trust fund will be set up for her two dogs in lieu of flowers as they were very special to her. Donations can be made at the Trochu Valley Vet clinic in her honour.
