- October 3, 2010
UNRUH - Our dear Randy Brent was born to Allen and Wanda Unruh on November 7, 1988 at Calgary, Alberta. He went home to be with his Savior and his Dad on October 3, 2010. Although we do not understand why God needed him, we believe that Heaven's choir has never been as beautiful as today. Though he was sick for several days, we had no warning to prepare us for his sudden passing. Complications following surgery took him from our home much too soon. Randy was a much loved son, brother, grandson, nephew and cousin. He was a quiet tower of strength in our lives and we will miss his sure and steady ways. At the early age of eleven he lost his Daddy and strove hard to become the "man" of the family. As a son, he took his father's place in being the thoughtful protector of his Mom. He was a real big brother and mentor to his younger sister and brother. Sharla learned the joy of working, as his quiet encouragements and compliments spurred her on to becoming Moms right hand helper. She was starting to enjoy a taste of youth life together with her big brother. His little brother Scottie was watching closely to become like him in keeping Mom's taxis(!) intact. Randy was an example worth following. Randy grew up on a farm at Acme, Alberta. He enjoyed his school years at Kneehill Christian School and excelled in all his studies. He loved to work, and whether farming with his uncle and cousins, pounding nails as a carpenter, or in his present job of apprenticing for heavy equipment mechanic, he always did his best. He learned great work ethics from his Dad and they became such a part of his life that working hard was second nature to him. He gave his heart to Jesus and became a member of the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite on Mother's Day 2003. He always tried so hard to support and be there for his Mom and siblings in the lonely and difficult times of life. He enjoyed living for Jesus and stayed true to Him. Singing was the heart of Randy's life. Many hours were spent singing with his uncle, cousins and youth friends, just for the joy of it, for praising God, and as a service to others. He will always be remembered for his strong leading voice. Though such a quiet boy, we will miss his music that filled our home and hearts. We wait with longing hearts to hear him and his Dad sing together. Randy had a special way of forming friendships with anyone. He was a quiet listener, a loyal confidant, a friend in need. God gave him the gift of putting others before himself. Those who cherish precious memories are his mother, Wanda, sister Sharla, brother Scott. His Grandparents, Cornie and Velma Wiebe; Grandma, Helen Unruh; Uncle Virg and Auntie Nanc; Duane and Jo, Casey, Claire; Pat and Katrina, and Jason; Auntie Rosie and Crystal; Auntie Vada; Uncle Ben and Auntie Merita; Russ and Becky; Nathan and Delores; Ivan and Rachel; Steve and Kate; Elaine, Titus, Caleb and Mike. Also Randy's special friend, Ben and Merilee, and family friends, Charles and Kathy, Ben, Jeff, Bob and Mary Jane; Tom and Regina. Those who welcomed him at Heaven's door are his Dad, Allen, his Grandpa Unruh and Uncle Dayton. His love, thoughtfulness and caring ways have left a trail of beautiful memories...where our hearts walk together.
