Mary Dyck was born on January 29, 1931, in the village of McMahon, SK, the daughter of Heinrich H. Klassen and Anna (Penner) Klassen. After her mother’s death in 1941, she was blessed with a wonderful stepmother, Katie (Penner) Klassen. In 1941, at the age of 10, Mary accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour.
