Seniors Outreach June 6, 2012

Seniors Week is finally here and Seniors Outreach wants to celebrate all our great seniors.
• Wednesday morning in Carbon (New Horizons) and afternoon in Three Hills at the CommUnity Drop-In Centre, Glenn Flewelling from the Museum will be presenting on the importance of passing on family history.  He is bring many interesting artifacts and will share some wonderful local stories. Come and be part.
• Wednesday evening is a panel discussion on how YOU can make a difference both in your community and globally. Every aspect of the evening will focus on celebrating heritage and the unique ways people can contribute  and give back to their community. The panel will consists of Dr. Reedyk (global opportunities), Marion Shadlock (volunteering), Cheryl Hollidge (lifelong learning), Steve Rendall (story telling), and Murray Paszko (from Servus Credit Union on donating and giving financially). Glenn Flewelling will lead the panel. The evening is sponsored by KALS, FCSS, and Seniors Outreach.  Don't miss out on this informative, interesting, and fun session. Open to ALL community members.
• Thursday is the Volunteer Appreciation and Fundraising Supper at Bethel Evangelical Missionary Church. A fantastic meal is planned and Hearts-n-Harmony will be there to help us celebrate our many faithful volunteers. Seniors Outreach is a volunteer-based organization so this is our opportunity to recognize our many volunteers. After the supper will be the Seniors Outreach Annual General Meeting. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the programs and services of a unique and vibrant non-profit County-wide organization.
• Friday is the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra open rehearsal of Beethoven's Pastoral and Bruch's Violin Concerto with world leading violinist, Sarah Chang. This event has only been opened to Seniors Outreach so is a fantastic opportunity to hear world class musicians.  Don't miss this trip. It is open to seniors (55+) and students.
• Saturday is our Seniors Week Pancake Breakfast hosted by the CommUnity Drop-In Centre. It is open to everyone. Kneehill County tournament playoffs will be held after the breakfast so come and cheer your community members on.  Participating will be Trochu, Acme, Linden, and Three Hills. Last year, we had winners from each community.
• On Sunday, many churches in Kneehill County will celebrate seniors. A wonderful finish to an awesome week.
We are uniquely blessed in our Kneehill communities with the many special seniors we have. They give so much and in so many ways. Please take time this week to recognize seniors you know.
