Outreach News January 6, 2011

Welcome to a new year and a new decade!  Here's a quote to contemplate as you think about how you might want to get involved in your community this year:  "We are not put on this earth to see through one another, but to see each other through."
There are lots of opportunities to help others as a volunteer with Seniors Outreach, why not drop by our office in the provincial building and talk to someone about just how you could get actively involved.
On another note, here is a warning we received from Philips Lifeline about a fraudulent action being done in their name.  Someone is going door to door trying to sell an emergency pager to seniors saying that Alberta Health Services will give a full rebate but they need the Alberta Health number.  When you call a number supposedly for Alberta Heath Services to confirm they agree but ask that the cost of the contract and monthly fees be charged first to your credit card.  Don't have anything to do with this scam.  Don't give out your Alberta Health number or your credit card.  Lifeline is dealing with it.
Stay safe, if you have any doubts call someone you trust to investigate for you.
