Outreach News February 23, 2011

The cold winds of winter have been blowing lately but the promise of a coming spring warms us.  And so the winds of change are blowing at Seniors Outreach with  a promise of good things to come.  After five-plus years of leading this prestigeous  organization, I feel it is time to pass on the baton.   It has been a tremendous privilege to work with the wonderful volunteers who make this organization successful. I thank you all for the support and confidence you have placed in me over these past years. Now I feel that there are some very competent people in place to take this organization to the next level of accomplishment.
Candy O'Connor who recently joined our staff  has agreed to step into the role as the Interim Administrator. She has many years of administrative experience and will do a great job of making this transition as seamless as possible. The other staff, Marsha Flewelling who has been the administrative assistant for over two years is more than capable of the many duties of the Front Desk. Elizabeth Hoppins and Terry Schlinker, who are the Community Relations Co-ordinators, are doing a great job of assisting seniors and their families in the communities outside of Three Hills.  Sarah Siegrist has recently left for a maternity leave.
The 200-plus volunteers make the many programs of Seniors Outreach happen. I wish you all continued success in your mission of "empowering citizens in Kneehill County through volunteering,  service & advocacy  to improve the quality of life for seniors."
"The rung of the ladder was never meant to rest upon, but only to hold a person's foot long enough to enable him to put another somewhat higher."
