Our school came together and hit the streets of our village today for the annual Terry Fox Run, taking big strides in the fight against cancer. A huge shoutout to the Acme School Grade 4-6 classes for joining us in this meaningful event.

TroVal Jays Bring Home Bronze In First Tournament Of The Season

TroVal Jays Sr. Girls played their first tournament of the season. The girls really came together as a team. There was some excellent leadership from the team veterans and some serious determination from the rookies. On Saturday, the Jays had two games, back to back, that had to go into a third set, to determine the winner. They played so many close matches, they came out victorious in all but two. Local ATB employees applied for an ATB-funded grant and the money has allowed the Town of Trochu to upgrade the ball diamond dugouts by purchasing materials. All six dugouts were each lengthened by eight feet, new metal walls were installed, and interiors were sheeted with plywood. Labour was supplied by Trochu Public Works employees.

Thrashers Exhibition Victories

The Three Hills Thrashers were cheered to victory in two exhibition games over the weekend. Saturday saw the Thrashers whip the Ponoka Stampeders 10-1 in front of an amazing home ice crowd at Three Hills Centennial Place Arena. The Thrashers travelled to Ponoka on Sunday and managed a 4-3 victory on Ponoka home ice. General Manager Reid Fenton commented that 45 players turned out for try-outs with half being returns and half being new hopefuls. The next exhibition home game is Saturday, Sept. 1
