Bauer Takes Top Spot

Cash Spiel A Event

Torrington’s powerhouse rink skipped by Jeff Bauer won the A Division in the Three Hills Curling Club’s first Annual Cash Spiel with a narrow win over Three Hills’ Neil Boles. Bauer’s rink included Matt White, Mitch Bauer and Derek Benedict. The next big event for Three Hills is the Farmers Open Bonspiel on the first week of January 2024.

Cash Spiel B Event


The Todd McGhee rink, from the Three Hills Curling Club, claimed top spot in the B Event with a win over Kent Hollowell. With McGhee were Wayne Walchuk, Cam Grant and Russ Hanses. There were 10 teams in this season’s opening event but organizer Rob Davidson expects it will be much larger next year as interest grows.

Cash Spiel C Event


The Three Hills Curling Club team skipped by Trent Kinniburgh ousted Rob Davidson’s rink in the final. With Kinniburgh were his sons Wyatt and Jesse along with Drisden Canning of Carbon. Area curling has needed a Fall event for years and it might move to mid-November next year, Davidson said, several other teams wanted to enter this year’s event but needed more notice.
