“Being Canadian, it’s always been a dream of mine to be drafted into the Canadian Football league.” That comes from John Bender, 23-year-old son of Wally and Linda Bender, of Three Hills.
John was drafted May 2, 2010 by the Calgary Stampeders. He went in the third round, 17th overall.
That was something of a surprise for the 6’8” 325 lb. Offensive Lineman. John was rated as the No. 1 prospect for the CFL Draft back in December. He was ranked No. 2 overall last month among all prospects by the CFL’s Amateur Scouting Bureau.
