I took great interest in a story last week submitted by Three Hills RCMP Sergeant Jamie Day. There is a Three Hills RCMP Youth Academy to be held at the Prairie Christian Academy from July 10 to July 14, 2023. This is a five-day summer academy that will provide selected students with a variety of activities that a police cadet would experience. This would include fitness training, defensive tactics, application of the law, emergency response, police demonstrations and more.

The academy is open to all students (grades 7 through 12) who attend a school in the Three Hills RCMP Detachment area. These include Three Hills School, Prairie Christian Academy, Trochu Valley School, Elnora School and Delburne Centralized School.

Please pick up your application at the Three Hills RCMP Detachment or email Applications must be turned in to the Three Hills RCMP Detachment by 4 pm on Monday, May 15, 2023.

Final selections will be made by Wednesday, May 31, 2023. Selected students will be notified by phone or email.

We are approaching the Family Day weekend and there is fun to be had in Kneehill County.

Saturday, February 18 will see Family Day Fireworks at the Three Hills Campground starting at 7:30 pm. Free hot dogs are available starting at 6:30 pm. Don’t forget to dress for the weather.

On Sunday, February 19, the Trochu Ag Society is hosting a Winter Family Fun Day at the Trochu Ag grounds from 1-4 pm. Enjoy free hot chocolate, bonfire, hot dogs and wagon rides.

Join the Linden Ag Society on Family Day, Feb. 20 for their Chili Cook-off. Head to the clubhouse at 1 pm to get in on this event. Bring a chilli to have sampled or come to taste. Everyone is welcome.
