Just a reminder that we are going to take a little vacation so there will be no August 23 edition of The Capital. However, we will continue to post updates on our website at threehillscapital.com in the case of emergencies.
One of our first holiday stops will be the Growing Kneehill Country Market at Horseshoe Canyon on Saturday, August 19. The market runs from 10 am to 4 pm featuring local producers and artisans. Yes, there is free fun for the whole family featuring a farm maze and preschool barnyard inflatables, free family farm games, dinos and dollars sand dig for kids, food trucks and live music. Hope to see you there, but remember, we’re on holiday.
Believe it or not Kneehil Regional Family and Community Support Services (FCSS) is celebrating their Silver Anniversary this year.
You are invited to join in their 25-year celebration on Tuesday, August 29, 2023, from 3 pm to 6 pm. There will be cake, ice cream, games, swag and prizes. FCSS is located at 779-2nd St NE, Three Hills. By the way, just in case you’re a little fuzzy on the meaning of “swag” this particular use refers to promotional items that advertise companies and products. I looked it up just to be sure. And while you’re eating cake and ice cream don’t forget to give Shelley and her staff a hip, hip, hooray for doing such an amazing job all of those 25 years.
One of the many invaluable services provided by FCSS to all families within Kneehill County is the Tools For School program. This program is celebrating 21 years of assistance in helping all students acquire the school supplies they need to go back to class on an even playing field with the other students.
Sadly, Back to School shopping can be a dreaded task and a stressful time for parents and students alike.
Binders, scissors, calculators and pencils are just a few of the many items needed by students.
Since 2002, the Tools For School program has been coordinated by Kneehill FCSS and supported by generous community members, organizations and businesses. Their donations help to provide the supplies necessary to support our area youth’s academic success.
Families that need the assistance of Tools For School can contact Kneehill Regional FCSS at 403-443-3800 or angie@krfcss.com.
If you would like to donate or volunteer in support of Tools for School please contact FCSS. Donations over $25 are eligible for a tax-deductible receipt. Please make cheques payable to Kneehill County- Tools for School.
Donations of new supplies or sponsoring of a child/family are also welcome. Please call the FCSS office at 403-443-3800 for a list of supplies needed.
That’s Life.
