That's Life - November 29, 2023

How about a big round of applause for the Moonlight Madness crew of Laura-Lee and Ken Cunningham. If you were downtown Friday night you had to come away in the Christmas Spirit.

Those beautiful Belgian horses and wagon from Hammer Hill Stables were a magical touch to a perfect evening. The Moonlight Christmas Farmer’s Market was packed to the rafters with sales tables and shoppers alike. The Knox Church Ladies’ Cookie Sale was sold out by 7 p.m.

There was great excitement over at the Three Hills Fire trucks as lights flashed and sirens sounded. ‘Our firefighters proudly opened their trucks to young and old for a closer look at the valuable, lifesaving equipment and how it works.

And I can’t say enough about the Three Hills Beautification team. What they’ve done with the large flower pot displays is quite simply, over the top.

And let’s not forget the stars of Friday’s Moonlight Madness - Santa and Mrs. Claus, with their elves and magnificent sleigh.

It’s all these things along with the warming fire, the treats and the traditional Christmas music that sets the stage for Christmas. The key word here is “Tradition”. It’s so important to keep our traditions alive and well. Sometimes it’s difficult to do because of a lack of volunteers.

Events like Moonlight Madness don’t just happen. Beautification like our summer flower pots and Christmas displays, doesn’t just happen. They take planning, hard work and dedication, not just to the project, but to the community.

And then there’s the costs incurred in making these things happen.

If you would like to make a financial contribution to continue to beautify Three Hills, please make your cheques payable to Three Hills Beautification and drop them off at ATB Financial, Three Hills. You can follow Three Hills Beautification on Facebook and Instagram or you can call Shirley Cullum at 403-443-0982 to volunteer or get more information.

And speaking of tradition, you will find Christmas Hamper Applications for Three Hills, Acme, Swalwell and Linden in this issue. Don’t miss the application deadlines to avoid disappointment.

Now, the Three Hills Health Initiative Charity Gala to be held on Saturday, December 9 has long been sold out. You can still support this worthy cause by purchasing 50/50 tickets. Get them at Adam B. Young Insurance, IGA, Servus Credit Union and ATB Financial or get them online via e-transfer to gala43hills@yahoo.com or donate items to the silent or live auction.
