That's Life

As spring turns to summer, the activities level in this region grows like wildfire.
Celebrate Seniors Week with activities stretched from Tuesday, June 1 to Friday, June 11. There is free bus service to and from the various events listed on page 14 of this week's issue.
Our Seniors Outreach does an amazing job of providing these outstanding opportunities for Seniors throughout the region. You don't have to be a senior to celebrate. Join the fun and learn how you can be part of this amazing organization.
Next week, Saturday, June 5, is all about the 29th annual Cruise Night/Show and Shine/ Swap Meet and 2nd Annual Motorcycle Show and Cabaret. I have been glued to the Weather Network and it looks good, really good, for our event. We deserve a break on this one. We've been rained out and hailed out to the point where we have wondered if we've done something wrong to deserve that kind of a beating. Buck up, little campers, this is our big year.
We want to have "The Big L" filled to capacity with "Vehicles of Special Interest". Please leave your pets at home. It's not fair to the pets or the spectators if you bring your dog or alligator to the show area.
The Three Hills and District Chamber of Commerce is once again hosting a Motorcycle Show at Centennial Place. That's the Arena for those of you who are scratching your heads. All makes, models and ages are welcome. Set-up starts at 10 am. There is no registration fee. Admission is $5 adults and $3 for students 12 - 12 years. Under 12 is free when accompanied by an adult. A concession will be operating. The Show is open from noon to 5 pm.
The Three Hills Curling Rink will open its doors at 8:30 pm for a Retro Cabaret.
Dance to "Rewind", from Calgary, with special guests "Bactrax", out of Edmonton. Dance from 9 pm to 1 am. Admission is $10 per person. Don't be surprised if there's a Hoola Hoop contest or two. It'll be a great time.
Remember that your support of these wonderful events provides needed funds that are re-invested in your community activities, promotion, beautification and more.
Chillin' With Dad is a fun time for children and their dads or guardians. There's fun-filled activities, hog dogs, fruit and juice. It's for kids aged 3-10 years. It's all free. Pre-registration is required by calling 403-443-3800. It goes at the Trochu Curling Rink 5:30 - 7:30 pm on Thursday, June 10 and at the Linden Outdoor Rink on Thursday, June 17. Registration deadlines are: Trochu - June 3 and Linden - June 10.
Three Hills Victim Services Steak and Lobster/Auction Fundraiser goes Saturday, June 12 at the Trochu Hall.
The Linden Sports Day "A Magical Day in the Country" also goes on Saturday, June 12 featuring Gord Bamford and much, much more.
Also on June 12 is the annual Carbon Sports Day. It's a full day of activities from their 8 am breakfast, parade, sports of all sorts, to their barbequed supper.
Let's hope the weather cooperates allowing us to enjoy all of these tremendous activities made possible by so many volunteers.
