That's Life September 22, 2010

As you may or may not know, I have been acclaimed Mayor-Elect for the Town of Three Hills.
I consider this a great privilege to have the opportunity to serve the people of Three Hills, a Town that has given so much to my family and myself. It's time to give back.
My years covering Council meetings created a desire in me to involve myself, at first, as a candidate for Council and then, because of a tremendous amount of community support, for the office of Mayor.
I have not supported the practice of separately electing Mayor and Council for several terms. I do support election of Mayor and/or Reeve, from within Council. That's how it happens in Trochu, Linden, Acme, Carbon and Kneehill County.
Three Hills Mayor Kevin Edwards has been a friend and colleague of mine for many years. He is one of the most intelligent people that I know and I salute him for the endless hours of dedicated service to the needs, wants, growth and betterment of our community.
I thank Kevin for the many great things he has done for Three Hills. I wish him nothing but the best in the future.
I'm not making a lot of promises that I fail to follow through with. I will, however, promise the citizens of Three Hills that I will work toward change in the election format. I will work closely with the new Council, Administration, Staff and Committees that make Three Hills such a great place to live.
My wife Theresa and I, are proud to have been born and raised in Three Hills. We raised our two sons here and now we enjoy our grandson who just entered Grade One in our Public School System.
We have pride and confidence in the future of our town and we're excited about the years to come.
I look forward to seeing you at the All Candidates Forum to be held on Tuesday, October 5, 7 pm, at the Three Hills Community Centre.
It's been quite a day.
That's Life.
