That's Life December 1, 2010

Over 600 people attended the Home For Christmas concerts presented by the Three Hills Arts Academy last Friday and Saturday night. Under the direction of Dr. James Janzen, the choirs were magnificent. Add the brass ensemble, strings, piano and hand bell chorus and the performance was more than worthy of the standing ovations received both nights.
I was proud and privileged to take part in the writing and reading of Christmas memories. You might say I'm a "raving fan" of Christmas.
If you took in the Christmas Farmer's Market last weekend in Three Hills, you probably got into the spirit of things. Hats off to Arnold and Betty Stauffer for growing that Christmas Farmer's Market from its early days to what it is today.
I'm excited to say that another Christmas Market will be held during Moonlight Madness on Friday, Dec. 10. Arnold tells me the table space is already sold out. They'll operate, at the Three Hills Community Centre, from 6 pm to 11 pm. Proceeds from table sales are being added to the proceeds generated at the annual "Here Comes Santa Cause" Supper and Auction to be held Monday, Dec. 6 at the Three Hills Community Centre. There will be 20 beautifully decorated wreaths and at least 10 fabulous desserts to be live auctioned by Darren Toews of Linalta Auction Services. There will be lots of silent auction items for everyone to bid on. Doors open at 6 pm. There's a Beef-on-a-bun supper, provided by Get 'n Go/Pizza Hut available at 6:30 pm. The cost is $5 per adult and $2 per child, for supper only. Admission to the event is absolutely free. All proceeds from this fundraising event will be divided amongst the Three Hills Playschool, Three Hills School Band and the Three Hills Area Food Bank. We urge everyone to come out and support these local causes.
The Annual Guzoo Christmas Pageant will be held at the Guzoo Animal Farm this Wednesday and Thursday, Dec. 1 and 2 at 7:15 pm sharp. Bundle up and bring along your mugs for hot chocolate. There's cookies, too. I've always found it's handy to take along a flashlight as well.
Trochu Arboretum Society is hosting their second annual Christmas Market Thursday, Dec. 2, 3-7 pm at the Trochu Community Hall. Get your picture taken with Santa.
The Carbon Craft Fair goes Saturday, Dec. 4 at the Carbon Hall.
The Three Hills School Bands are planning an exchange trip and they will be in concert Thursday, December 2, 7 pm at the Three Hills School Gym. There's free hot chocolate, a bake sale and Jon Radcliffe will be calling a live auction. The bands will also have a gigantic bake sale at Sears - Three Hills during Moonlight Madness from 6 pm to 11 pm on Friday, Dec.10.
The Wimborne Community Hall will be busy on Wed., Dec. 1 for their annual Torrington/Wimborne Playschool Fundraising Auction. Silent Auction starts at 6:30 pm with Live Auction to follow. There will also be a Ham Raffle.
The Second Annual Bethlehem Walk, hosted by the parishes of Mt. Olive Evangelical Free Church, Prairie Tabernacle and Manor Gospel Church, runs Dec. 2, 3, 4, 10 and 11 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm each day. Special 3 pm to 5 pm showings will take place Dec. 4 and Dec. 11. It all happens at the former Home Hardware Building Centre on Main Street, Three Hills. Admission is free.
I noticed our Three Hills Water Tower is ready to light up and our light pole decorations will be in place this week. I also saw a big load of fresh cut Christmas trees heading out to Ron's Gas and Wash. How much for a tree, Ron? "A million bucks," says he. I think he'll sell you one a little cheaper.
That's Life.
